Abstract:
This research deals with the comparative study of the stages of conduct in the thought of Imam Khomeini (RA) and Patanjali. Using the comparative research method, the main texts and sources of Shiite mysticism and yoga philosophy have been studied and compared. The findings show that both thinkers consider Seluk as a spiritual journey to achieve perfection, but there are differences in the final goal, the number of steps, and some methods. In Imam Khomeini's thought, the final goal of the walk is the death of God and the survival of God, while in Patanjali's thought, it is to reach samadhi.Using Islamic philosophy and Shiite mysticism, Imam Khomeini (may Allah be pleased with him) considers Saluk as a journey towards perfection and annihilation in the name of God and introduces four stages: journey from creation to truth, journey from truth to truth, journey from truth in creation to creation, And the journey from creation to truth with truth. On the other hand, Patanjali, with his philosophy of Samkhya and Yoga, describes the path towards oneness with Brahman and freedom from the cycle of birth and death, and introduces eight stages in the Yoga Sutra: Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dehyana, and samadhi Both thinkers emphasize on refining the self, fighting with the self and focusing on the inside, but Imam Khomeini (RA) considers the role of God and trust in him to be much stronger.
