The belief in the afterlife and the reception of rewards and punishments is a core tenet of Zoroastrianism, permeating all its foundational doctrines. This belief is well articulated in Zoroastrian religious texts from the ancient (Avestan) and Middle Persian (Pahlavi) periods. While these texts generally explain this belief, each elaborates on specific subsets of the afterlife. This study analyzes Zoroastrian religious texts from the early Avestan, late Avestan, and Pahlavi periods to examine changes in eschatological concepts and the understanding of the afterlife. The texts are critically analyzed by identifying key concepts related to death and individual eschatology. Eschatological concepts in the Gatha texts are broadly outlined, whereas Pahlavi texts present a more detailed account. The evolution of these concepts demonstrates a relative continuity and coherence from ancient to medieval periods.

Abstract:
باور به جهان پس از مرگ و دریافت پاداش و پادافره، از اعتقادات راستین زرتشتیان است؛ بهگونهایکه بر تمام بنیانهای اعتقادی آنان سایه افکنده است. این باور در متون دینی در دورة باستان (اوستایی) و در دورة فارسی میانه (پهلوی) بهخوبی بیان شده است. هرچند این متون این باور را بهصورت کلی تبیین کردهاند، اما هر کدام از آنها برخی از زیرمجموعههای جهان پس از مرگ را تبیین کرده یا تفصیل دادهاند. در این تحقیق، با تحلیل متون دینی زرتشتیان در ادوار اوستای متقدم، اوستای متأخر و متون پهلوی، تغییرات صورتگرفته دربارة فرجام و حیات پس از مرگ را مورد بررسی قرار داده و به تبیین مفاهیم آخرتشناسی در آنها پرداختهایم و تلاش کردهایم که تطور مفهوم مرگ را در این دورهها مورد بررسی قرار دهیم. ازهمینرو مفاهیم اصلی وابسته به مفهوم مرگ و فرجامشناسی فردی مشخص شده است و بر مبنای آنها متون مورد تحلیل و بررسی قرار گرفتهاند. مفاهیم آخرتشناسی در متون گاهانی بهصورت کلی، اما در متون پهلوی بهصورت کاملتری بیان شدهاند. سیر تطور در این دورهها به این صورت بوده است که مفاهیم آخرتشناسی با پیوستگی و یکسانی نسبی در متون دورة باستان طرح و سپس به دورة میانه منتقل شدهاند.
