An Investigation of the Most Important Components of Hindu WorldView of Purana Texts

Abstract:
Puranas (sacred literature of Hinduism) are considered as the most influential Hindu texts in forming the way of thinking and theological system of recent and contemporary Hinduism. These texts, according to classical classification of Hindu texts are among the Smruti (unrevealed). Purana texts, with their pantheistic view of the world and by putting the creatures in the hierarchy of Brahman's manifestation, incorporate multiple Hindu gods into a single theological system(and foster harmony between different gods' functions which did not have clear relationships by then. Furthermore, these texts, by providing an idea about the stages and ranks of creation in which creatures are placed in a linear hierarchy in terms of their high and low degree of knowledge, consider that man's creation is positioned in the final stages of the hierarchy of Brahman's final aim of creating creatures, hence granting man a central role in the universe. The present paper tries to make a coherent Hindu world view, based on Purana doctrines and teachings in three domains of theology, anthropology, and soteriology

Abstract:
پورانه ها، که در دسته بندی کلاسیک متون هندویی در گروه متون سْمِرتی(غیر مُنزَل) جای داده دارند، از جمله تأثیرگذارترین متون هندویی در شکل دهی هندسه ی فکری و نظام الاهیاتی هندوئیسم متأخر و معاصر به شمار می روند. پورانه ها با نگاهی وحدت وجودی به جهان و با قرار دادن موجودات در سلسله مراتب تجلّیات برهمن، خدایان متکثّر هندویی را در یک نظام الاهیاتی واحد می گنجاند و به کارکردهای متنوّع خدایانی که تا آن زمان در ارتباطی نامشخّص با هم به سر می بردند، انسجام می بخشد. همچنین پورانه ها، با ارائه طرحی از مراحل و مراتب خلقت، که موجودات بر اساس شدّت و ضعفِ معرفت، در یک سلسله طولی قرار دارند، خلقت انسان را در مراحل پایانی و تأمین کننده ی هدف نهایی برهمن از خلق کائنات معرّفی کرده و بدین وسیله، نقشی محوری برای او در نظام هستی رقم می زند. این نوشتار، تلاشی در جهت جهان بینی هندویی، با تکیه بر آموزه ها و تعالیم پورانه ای، در سه حوزه ی خداشناسی، جهان شناسی، انسان شناسی و نجات شناسی می باشد.
