Aims And Scope
Ma`rifat-e Adyan" (A Quarterly Journal of Religions) is a scientific quarterly journal in the field of religious studies. The scope of this journal's topics encompasses various subfields of religious studies, including the following:
1. History of Religions: Examining the nature, emergence, growth and flourishing, developments, and sometimes the decline of religions, and presenting scientific theories and analyses in these areas.
2. Historical Geography of Religions: A scholarly examination of the geographical spread of religions throughout history and their expansion or contraction in different regions of the world.
3. Sources of Authority in Religions: Analytical study and critique of the sacred texts of religions, exploring how each religion derives its doctrines, rituals, customs, ethics, and even its rites from its sources.
4. Beliefs: Investigating, analyzing, and critiquing the doctrinal teachings of religions within three branches:
- The study of the Ultimate Reality (theological foundations),
- Cosmology (and within it, anthropology),
- and Eschatology (individual and universal).
5. Rituals, Jurisprudence, and Ethics: Analytical exploration and theorizing on the origins of religious rituals, explaining the criteria for practical rulings, and clarifying ethical systems—particularly the purpose of ethical behavior or the criteria for moral actions.
6. Comparative Studies: Conducting comparative research in the five areas mentioned above and offering analytical theories in these domains.
