There are significant number of hadiths on this word in the Islamic tradition. The question of this article is to determine the referents of “majus” in Islamic texts. There are two general views about the referent of “majus”. Some writers have considered a wide range for the referents of “majus” and have named several sects for it; while they disagree on the number and names of these sects. Mentioning the supporters of this point of view and criticizing their idea, this article deals with the history of the followers of ancient Iranian religions and considers Zoroastrianism to be the only living religion of ancient Iran, which has active followers; Zoroastrians are the only ones who can be the referent of “majus”. Analyzing and comparing “majus” in the Islamic narrations, this article chooses this point of view that Zoroastrians are the only referents of “majus” in Islamic religious texts. از واژه های پرکاربرد، به ویژه در متون نقلی کهن، واژه‌ی «مجوس» است. این واژه در منابع روایی اسلام سهم قابل توجه از احادیث را به خود اختصاص داده است. آنچه حائز اهمیت و مبنای این نوشتار بوده، تعیین مصداق مجوس در متون اسلامی است. دو دیدگاه کلی درباره‌ی مصداق مجوس مطرح است. برخی نویسندگان دایره‌ی مصادیق مجوس را گسترده دانسته و برای آن فرقه های متعددی نام برده اند که در تعداد و اسامی این فرقه ها با یکدیگر اختلاف دارند. نوشتار پیش رو پس از ذکر موافقان این دیدگاه و نقد دیدگاه آنان، به سرگذشت پیروان ادیان ایران باستان پرداخته و تنها دین زنده‌ی ایران باستان را آیین زرتشت دانسته است که پیروان فعالی دارند و تنها زرتشتیان اند که می توانند مصداق مجوس باشند؛ سپس با تحلیل و تطبیق مجوس در روایات اسلامی، این دیدگاه را برگزیده است که تنها مصداق مجوس در متون دینی اسلام، زرتشتیان هستند. https://marefateadyan.nashriyat.ir/sites/marefateadyan.nashriyat.ir/files/article-files/1_45.pdf
