A Comparative Study of the Views of the Catholic Church and Shiite Scholars regarding the Theory of Evolution

Abstract

Since the theory of evolution was proposed, and as it presented a particular worldview that was inconsistent with the current views, different reactions to this view have been triggered among the followers of different religions. Using a descriptive-analytical method, this paper seeks to consider the similarities and differences between the Catholic Church and Shiite scholars in dealing with this view. The results indicate that there is a withdrawal of the Catholic Church from its original view on this theory. Besides, the church has paid attention to the various dimensions and depth of influence of this view.
