The reason for these wars, what justification their initiators and wagers had to legitimate these violent wars and what were the nature and principles of Muslims' Jihad against these Christian aggressors in thoughts and views of contemporary jurists are topics which require discussion and reflection. The main hypothesis of the present paper is that Crusades have been the perfect example of holy wars which the new doctrines proposed by Christian clerics on "just war" have not been able to change their nature, because the historical reports about these wars do not allow for their conformity with just war doctrine. Muslims' Jihads against crusaders – whether as preemptive Jihad or as defensive and preventive Jihads–were defensive in nature which contemporary Sunni and Shi’ī jurist consider them as legitimate. یکی از طولانی ترین جنگ هایی که تاریخ به خود دیده، جنگ های صلیبی است که نزدیک به دو قرن، بهانه‌ی قلم فرسایی مورّخان شده است. اینکه علّت این جنگ ها چه بوده و آغازگران و ادامه دهندگان این جنگ ها در مشروعیت بخشی به این خشونت ها چه توجیهی داشته اند، و اینکه جهاد مسلمانان در برابر متجاوزان مسیحی در اندیشه‌ی فقیهان معاصر این جنگ ها چه ماهیت و مبنایی داشته است، جای بحث و تأمّل دارد. فرضیه‌ی اصلی این نوشتار آن است که جنگ های صلیبی، نمونه‌ی تمام عیاری از جنگ های مقدّس بوده اند که آموزه سازی روحانیان مسیحی در باب «جنگ عادلانه» نتوانسته است ماهیت آنها را تغییر دهد؛ زیرا روایات تاریخی از این جنگ ها، اجازه‌ی انطباق آنها با آموزه‌ی جنگ عادلانه را نمی دهد. جهاد مسلمانان با صلیبی ها نیز ـ چه در قالب جهاد به ظاهر ابتدایی و چه در قالب جهاد تدافعی و پیش دستانه ـ ماهیت جهاد دفاعی داشته است که فقیهان شیعه و سنّی معاصرِ این جنگ ها، آن را مشروع دانسته اند. https://marefateadyan.nashriyat.ir/sites/marefateadyan.nashriyat.ir/files/article-files/5.pdf
