Meanwhile, the scope of Church's (Christianity) social activities with their ups and downs has had an important role in political changes in western societies. The ancient Church (Christianity) had a theology based on reliable Christian texts and commentaries. However, the emergence of Protestantism in recent centuries has caused current commentaries – especially Catholic reading – to lose their credit and has extended the sphere of influence of commentaries based on the biblical text. This has paved the ground for Christian believers' to have direct reference to the Bible which encompasses all aspects of a Christian's life including war. As a reliable source, the New Testament has always been the origin of thoughts of Christian political theologians in understanding the principles of war legitimacy but it does not have a clear and explicit system as to the philosophy of theology of war; however, new studies on these texts have led to the emergence of attitudes about theoretical philosophy of war which are often justifiable in two ranges of war prohibition and war legitimacy. جنگ، پدیده ای مهم در خاطره‌ی حیات بشر است و این اهمیت وقتی دوچندان می شود که موضع گیری ادیان، زمینه ساز تقویت یا توقف نبردهای انسان در طول تاریخ شود. در این میان، دامنه‌ی فعالیت های پرفرازونشیب اجتماعیِ کلیسا، نقشی بسزا در تحولات سیاسی جوامع غربی داشته است. کلیسای باستان، الاهیاتی مبتنی بر متن و تفسیر موثق کلیسایی داشت؛ اما ظهور پروتستانتیزم در قرون اخیر، سکه‌ی تفسیرهای رایج ـ به ویژه قرائت کاتولیکی ـ را کم رونق کرده و در مقابل بر گستره‌ی نفوذ تفسیرهای مبتنی بر متن کتب مقدّس افزوده است. همین امر، زمینه ساز مراجعه‌ی مستقیم مؤمنان مسیحی به کتاب مقدس شده است؛ مراجعه ای که همه‌ی شئون حیات یک مسیحی ـ از جمله مسئله‌ی جنگ ـ را در برمی گیرد. عهد جدید به سان منبعی معتبر، هماره در فهم مبانی مشروعیت جنگ، سرچشمه‌ی اندیشه های الاهی دانان سیاسی مسیحیت بوده است، اما نظام روشن و صریحی درخصوص فلسفه‌ی الاهیات جنگ ندارد؛ در عین حال بررسی های نوین این متون به پیداییِ گرایش هایی در باب فلسفه‌ی نظری جنگ انجامیده که اغلب در دو طیف ممنوعیت و مشروعیت جنگ توجیه پذیرند. https://marefateadyan.nashriyat.ir/sites/marefateadyan.nashriyat.ir/files/article-files/4.pdf
