In spite of the repeated warnings which found in the sacred texts of these religions, some sects have taken form within them. The central point at issue here is the cause for the division and the motive and characteristics of those who provoke it. Using a descriptive-analytical method and a comparative approach, this study explores the issue of the division within religion and the characteristics of its promoters from the perspective of the Qur'an and the New Testament. Both sacred texts warn against the disagreement and division among their followers. The New Testament focuses only on the followers of Jesus Christ in this regard. But, the Holy Qur'an also warns the nations and the followers of the previous prophets. Regarding the features of the promoters of division, both sacred texts emphasize on their spiritual weaknesses and their involvement in vices. The Holy Quran uses the term "Bagi" as a distinctive feature of those who provoke division. The New Testament considers them as slaves of carnal desires and lacking spiritual maturity. The emphasis given by the sacred texts of Islam and Christianity to this issue indicates the importance of providing true believers with spiritual and moral education in order to prevent division within religion. یکی از آموزه های مهم دین اسلام و مسیحیت، دعوت به همگرایی و نهی از تفرقه و جدایی بین پیروان آنهاست. علی رغم توصیه ها و هشدارهایی در این باره در متون مقدس این دو دین، فرقه هایی در بستر آنها شکل گرفتند. مسئلۀ مهم در تحلیل و بررسی این فرقه ها، علت افتراق و انگیزه و ویژگی های عاملان آن است. این پژوهش با رویکرد مقایسه ای و به روش توصیفی ـ تحلیلی، به مسئلۀ افتراق دینی و ویژگی های عاملان آن در قرآن و عهد جدید می پردازد. هر دو متن مقدس، نسبت به اختلاف و افتراق میان پیروان، هشدار می دهند. عهد جدید در این زمینه فقط دربارۀ پیروان عیسی مسیح صحبت می کند. ولی قرآن کریم، از افتراق و تفرقه میان امت ها و پیروان پیامبران پیشین نیز خبر می دهد. هر دو متن مقدس در توصیف عاملان افتراق، از ضعف معنوی و رذیلت های اخلاقی آنان سخن می گویند. قرآن کریم از واژۀ «بغی» استفاده می کند. عهد جدید نیز آنها را بندۀ امیال و خواسته های نفسانی خود و فاقد بلوغ معنوی می داند. توجه و تأکید متون مقدس اسلام و مسیحیت بر این موضوع، بیانگر اهمیت و جایگاه تربیت معنوی و اخلاقی دین داران، در پیشگیری از اختلاف و تفرقه در دین است. https://marefateadyan.nashriyat.ir/sites/marefateadyan.nashriyat.ir/files/article-files/3_25.pdf
