Since Thomas Aquinas is among the greatest theologians of Catholic Church and Martin Luther is one of the most effective figures of the Protestant Church, and because they have exerted great influence on the thoughts of the followers of these two schools, it is necessary to make a comparison between the thoughts of each of them on this issue. Using an analytical approach and citing documentary proofs, this paper seeks to make a comparative study of the question of faith and rationality according to the views of each of these two distinguished Christian figures. Undoubtedly, understanding their approaches can contribute enormously to forming a very accurate picture of these eminent and important Christian Churches. The findings of this paper suggest that Aquinas is a non-extremist rationalist and Luther is a non-extremist fideist. Although in general they accept the two elements of faith and rationality, they have serious differences over the intellectual principles. دیربازی است که مسیحیت شاهد بحث رابطه‌ی ایمان و عقلانیت و تبیین مرزهای میان این دو است؛ بحث مهمی که با باور دینی و مذهبی افراد سروکار دارد و اختلافات فراوانی در میان اندیشمندان بزرگ مسیحی به وجود آورده است. ازآنجاکه توماس آکوئیناس، یکی از بزرگ ترین الهی دانان کلیسای کاتولیک و مارتین لوتر، یکی از تأثیرگذارترین شخصیت های کلیسای پروتستان بوده و این دو فرقه تحت تأثیر فراوان اندیشه های آنان است، مقایسه‌ی اندیشه‌ی آنان در این مسئله می تواند بسیار حائز اهمیت باشد. این مقاله با رویکرد تحلیلی و بررسی اسنادی، درصدد واکاوی تطبیقی بحث ایمان و عقلانیت از دیدگاه این دو چهره‌ی شناخته شده‌ی مسیحی است. بی تردید فهم رویکرد آنان، برای شناخت دقیق تر این کلیساهای بزرگ و مهم مسیحی راه گشا خواهد بود. یافته های این مقاله، حاکی از این است که آکوئیناس یک عقل گرای غیرافراطی و لوتر یک ایمان گرای غیرافراطی است و به رغم پذیرش اجمالی دو عنصر ایمان و عقلانیت از جانب هر دو، اختلافاتی جدی در مبانی فکری آنان وجود دارد. https://marefateadyan.nashriyat.ir/sites/marefateadyan.nashriyat.ir/files/article-files/5_19.pdf
